Tohaali Community School

Tohaali Community School provides the necessary learning accommodations and resources for students with special needs. We work with parents, guardians, teachers, and specialists to create tailored education plans that build on strengths and address learning gaps. Our special education program helps students grow into confident, capable, and independent life-long learners.

We comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1974. IDEA and Section 504 are federal laws that protect students from discrimination based on disability. Section 504 ensures that students with disabilities have educational opportunities and benefits equal to those provided to students without disabilities. A student must have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities to be eligible.

Section 504 Rights:

  • Participate in and benefit from the school’s educational programs without discrimination based on disability.
  • Be provided an equal opportunity to participate in the school’s nonacademic and extracurricular activities.
  • Be educated in facilities and receive services comparable to those provided to students without disabilities.
  • Receive accommodations and/or auxiliary aids and services to allow each student an equal opportunity to participate in school activities.
  • Receive auxiliary aids and services without cost to allow each student an equal opportunity to participate in school activities.

Tohaali Community School ensures that our special education program supports academic achievement, social-emotional development, and overall wellness.
