Transportation Services at Tohaali Community School

We aim to ensure safe, efficient and reliable bus services for our students. Please read the following guidelines and procedures to help maintain a positive and secure transportation experience for everyone.

Riding the Bus: A Privilege and Responsibility

Riding the bus is a privilege that requires students to uphold good behavior. Students must follow all school rules and procedures to ensure the safety of everyone on the bus. Unacceptable behavior and violations of bus rules may result in restrictions or suspension of bus privileges.

Daily Bus Service

Our school provides daily bus service for day students, with stops only at designated locations. Please ensure your child is at the bus stop on time and follows all bus rules to maintain their riding privileges.

Bus Change Requests

A temporary bus pass is required if your child needs to ride a different bus than their assigned one. Parents/guardians must provide written notice to request a temporary bus pass or call the school office by 11 a.m. on the same day. This helps us manage and ensure the safety of all students.

Transportation Cancellation due to Inclement Weather

In inclement weather, changes to school operations will be announced as soon as possible. Here is how you can stay informed:

  • Local Radio Stations: KNDN 960 (Farmington) and KTNN 660 (Window Rock, AZ)
  • Television Stations: KRQE News 13/KASA Fox 2 and KOB 4
  • Websites: KRQE.com and KOB.com

If school is delayed or closed, announcements will be made by 5:30 a.m. (or the night before if possible). If school closes early, announcements will be made by 11 a.m. through the local radio stations mentioned above.

Bus Rules: Don't Lose Your Riding Privilege

To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, the following rules must be followed on the bus:

  • Be on time: Arrive at your bus stop promptly.
  • Respect others and the driver: Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
  • Remain in your seat: Stay seated while the bus is in motion.
  • Keep the aisle and exits clear: Ensure all personal items are stored properly.
  • Be courteous: Avoid using foul language or obscene gestures.
  • Keep all body parts inside the bus: Do not stick hands, arms or heads out of windows.
  • Prohibited items and behaviors:
    • No use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs.
    • No food or drinks on the bus.
  • Do not damage the bus: Students and their parents will be responsible for any repairs due to damage caused by students.
  • Do not distract the driver: Keep noise levels down for safety and do not interfere with the driver’s attention.
  • Listen to the bus driver: Follow all instructions the bus driver gives.

By adhering to these rules, we can ensure a safe and pleasant journey for all students. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
