Student Life at Tohaali Community School

Tohaali Community School student life offers opportunities to become capable Navajo scholars and leaders. Our culture, traditions, and educational standards are focused on students’ development in the areas of:

  • College and career readiness
  • Professional learning communities
  • Navajo language and culture
  • Financial success
  • Stakeholder engagement

We aim to ensure all students meet or exceed academic proficiency levels in reading, language arts, science, and mathematics. Tohaali Community School also prepares its students for future success by providing physical, emotional, social, and cultural programs and activities.

Tohaali Community School’s holistic curriculum enhances the learning process and overall well-being. Our students succeed academically by investing time and effort into various support programs. Key student life initiatives include:

  • After-School Homework Support/Tutoring - Available to all students, this program offers after-school assistance with homework and tutoring for anyone failing a class. Students are to make prior arrangements with specific teachers or staff members.
  • After-School Program—Students who are behind in credits can enroll in computer-assisted credit recovery classes. These classes allow students to work at their own pace and earn credit upon completion.
  • Summer School - May be offered to allow students to retake classes they failed during the school year. Students who attend daily will have the opportunity to earn up to 1 credit.
  • Summer Programs - May include camps, college campus visits, workshops, academies, and other enrichment programs.
  • Support Services - Tailored support is provided for students with special learning and behavioral needs, including extended school year options.

Tohaali Community School is an academic support system and an accelerator towards academic excellence. Our Navajo students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and the community leaders of tomorrow.
