Summer Recreation Program Brings Community Together
School Information
Tohaali’ Community School in Newcomb, New Mexico, bustled with creativity and energy during its summer evening recreation program. Participants enjoyed a three‑tier skirt workshop, where six individuals proudly completed their own skirts. A special drawing was held for a beautifully designed skirt. The sewing room was filled with laughter, encouragement, and a positive atmosphere as everyone worked together. In the weaving room, participants worked on woven rugs, and one was completed and taken off the loom, thanks to the weaving instructor's patience and guidance.
The gym stayed busy with lively 5‑on‑5 basketball games, while dedicated walkers and runners consistently completed their 1.5‑mile routes. Participants also enjoyed Zumba classes. From crafting to sports to fitness, everyone attending has truly enjoyed their evenings together — building skills, sharing laughter, and strengthening community connections at Tohaali’.
